From Mary:

I feel my design really depicts the loss we have had during the pandemic. These losses may have been big such as the loss of loved one, one's health or employment.  However not everyone had had those big losses but still felt some pieces of themselves disappearing. Their losses may have been not seeing the child's soccer game or dance recital, not meeting up with friends or not being able to travel. I think we all lost something during these hard times.  Hopefully our future will bring back some of things we lost and make us whole again.

My own personal losses were health issues due to long haulers, missing dance competitions and recitals, watching my son play baseball, seeing my teen daughter dip into a depression due to the remote learning as well as my husband's job loss. Amongst these losses I picked up cross stitching again-  something I stopped doing about 25 years before.  When I saw the Stitching the Situation collaboration, I thought this was a perfect opportunity to express my losses through my gain during the pandemic.
