Thank you for your interest in this project.

Here’s how you can help:

1) Sign up to sew a block.

2) Share your story or create a design.

3) Support the project financially.

4) Share the project on your social media feed(s).

5) Contact me about hosting a COVID-compliant community stitching session. These can be virtual or in-person. I also offer a workshop for smaller-scale stitching projects for communities, organizations, or schools to create their own local stitching project.

I am also open to new ideas and ways to collaborate or adapt this project for various needs and abilities.

The basics of participating as a stitcher are:

1) You fill out this sign-up form.

2) Your name is placed on a list and assigned a date to sew.

3) I collect the day’s stats and create a sewing pattern kit. The pattern represents the COVID-19 case count and death count for that day. Each stitch represents one case — one person who tested positive or died due to COVID-19.

4) I mail your kit to you in the next shipment. I mail once per week, usually on a Monday.

5) You receive the kit and sew it. Detailed instructions for that are here. I include the materials needed to get you started, but you’re responsible for providing the additional thread to complete the block in whatever pattern you choose to create. If thread is difficult for you to acquire, please contact me so we can make arrangements.

6) When the kit is complete, with each stitch that represents a case sewn, you mail it back to me. Return postage is included.

Stitching isn’t for everyone!

We created the Story Network to ensure this project is accessible to all, without requiring folks to stitch.
